Babu Rajab Ali

Babu Rajab Ali was a prolific writer of Punjabi language. He was born in village Sahoke of Moga District, now in Indian Punjab. After partition, he moved to Pakistan and got settled in Okara, Punjab. As he belonged to Malwa region of Punjab his poetry is also in Malwa dialect of Punjab. As a poet he is revered greatly in Indian side of Punjab and every year a festival is also held in his name. In his life time, he wrote poetic narrations of 86 folktales of Punjab. His poetry is all about his love for his birth place which he had to left behind in the name of Partition. He was a dedicated servant of his land Punjab and his mother tongue Punjabi.
