With relation to modern Punjabi Ghazal, Rauf Sheikh has a unique literary stature. He has introduced Punjabi Ghazal with modern concepts and topics. His real name was Abdul Rauf but he got famous in literary world as Rauf Sheikh. Originally, he belonged to Hafizabad, however, after he passed his B.A he came to Lahore to establish his business here. In Lahore, he got introduced with the likes of Ustad Daman and Qateel Shifia, the literary company which made him a proficient poet. He also served as the secretary of Pakistan writers guild, Lahore.
