Ashiq Raheel

1935   Professor Ashiq Raheel is a poet and a writer of Punjabi language. He was born in Patiala and got his early education from Noor Mehal, Amritsar, now in Indian Punjab. He was 12 when he had to move along with his family to Pakistan during the partition of subcontinent in 1947. He did his graduation from Government College, Lahore and went to England for higher studies. He joined academia upon his return from England and retired as a professor.
