Baqi Siddiqui

1909—1972   Baqi Siddiqui is a poet of Pothohari dialect of Punjabi. He has the honor of being the first to introduce new trends in Punjabi poetry. His real name was Muhammad Afzal Sain but made his name as Baqi Siddiqui in literary world. He belonged to village Suhala, Tehsil Taxila Dist. Rawalpindi. He was a well-known poet of Urdu language while he also wrote 2 poetry books with the name of "Zakhmi Piyar" and "Kache Ghare" in Punjabi. His poetry is an apt representation of Pothorhari culture of Punjab and also an analysis of Socio-economic and psychological issues of man.
