Dr. Laeeq Babree, who was a visiting professor of ancient religions at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, was a pioneer of modern Punjabi poetry. He was a PHD in French literature from University of Paris, and joined National Institute of Modern Languages (NUML) as lecturer in French language and later became the director and eventually the chairperson of the department of French at the same institute. His poetry has been published in two volumes 'Ghoggo Ghorey’ (mute horses) and ‘Khingar’ (stones that hurt).
