Fazal Shah 1827 – 1890

Fazal shah was one of the biggest Punjabi poet that 19th century produced. He belonged to Nawan kot, a suburbs in Lahore. His claim to fame are Punjabi folk tales, which he wrote many including Heer Ranjha, Sassi Punnu, Yousaf Zulekha, Laila Majnu and Sohni Maheenval. Sohni Maheenval is written with such ardency that it is considered his best work so far.
